About 9 to 5

Hey friends!

Thanks so much for visiting 9 to 5! I started the blog after my internship search freshman year. I had no clue what to wear to my interviews, didn't own a suit, and found a lot of the tips a little stuffy and over-aged. I opened shop in November 2010, working on posts that bridge the gap between dressing your age and dressing professionally.

A little about me: My name is Analisa and I'm a junior at UNC Chapel Hill. I learned the ins and outs of corporate fashion from 3 sources:

Experience: During my first internship search, I did a lot of shopping and rummaging through friends' closets, and going on interview days. I learned a lot from trial and error and investigating other applicants' outfit choices. I'm also starting my third internship this summer, and had the opportunity to work in hiring this past year. Spending time on both sides of the table has given me insight as to what works and what doesn't.

Dress for Success: Once a week, I go shopping with other people's money. Seriously, as an Image Coach at this amazing organization, it's my job to help underprivileged women get ready for their interviews by making them look and feel fabulous. I also spend some of my time as a Career Coach! DFS has given me the opportunity to dress women of all ages, heights, and sizes. Some suiting sessions can be challenging, but they've made me more creative and resourceful when it comes to getting dressed.

UNC Career Services: I love my career services office! They've been helping me get hired since Spring 2009. This past year, I got involved with their Student Ambassador program, and served as Marketing Manager and Digital Content Manager, and most recently, as the Ambassador Director. I love organizing career fairs, advising other students, producing blog content and - yes - giving interview fashion advice.
